Sonam Kapoor annoyed at comparisons of Veere Di Wedding and Sex and the City

Stating that the country is obsessed with the West, Sonam Kapoor says onus is on stars to celebrate India

Considering Sonam Kapoor-starrer 'Veere Di Wedding' features four women in leading roles, many were quick to jump the gun and draw parallels between the film and popular series-turned-film, 'Sex And The City'. Kapoor, on her part, finds the comparison annoying. "Why are people always finding Western comparisons to Indian films? Veere Di Wedding is a desi movie with stories about women we know. People are still not India-proud. That's why I am consciously doing intrinsically Indian stories. We have a billion stories to tell. It's us actors who need to give that a chance."

Kapoor insists her desi choices reflect in her style, too. "As a fashionista, I try to promote Indian designers."
