Last week, Rajan said that he would not seek renewal of his position as RBI Governor when his term expires in September and "will be returning to academia".

Reacting to the news, Soha had tweeted, "Profound loss for India that @RBIGov #RaghuramRajan has been forced to exit. He can only help those who want to help themselves. Shame."

Her comment was met with trolling as people joked that the 37-year-old actress doesn't even know the full form of RBI and questioned her knowledge about economy.

Slamming her detractors, Soha, who has a Masters degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, wrote, "LSE doesn't stand for the London School of Entertainment and "dumb actresses" are citizens with valid opinions on economic policy #nuffsaid."

Soha is not the first actress to be a victim of people's perception that Bollywood female stars lack knowledge about current affairs.

Actresses like Sonakshi Sinha and Sonam Kapoor have been trolled in the past for speaking on socio-economical issues.
