The war between streaming giants is heating up and Bollywood stars are at the centre of it. After Amazon Prime signed on several filmmakers for originals, its arch rival Netflix seems to have another ace up its sleeve. The video-streaming giant signed up with Shah Rukh Khan's production house Red Chillies Entertainment in December last year – the deal allows them access to Khan's past films as well as the upcoming ones. Now, taking their association forward, Khan will develop original content for the platform.
Talking to mid-day, Khan says, "We have plans to come up with original content, be it films or web series. My team is currently writing a few scripts. We'll pitch it to Netflix when we are ready with some really good stories and content." However, Khan adds that the process is still in the nascent stages. "As of now, we haven't signed anything with them, except for the film deal. We will do something soon."

Ted Sarandos, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Netflix CEO Reed Hastings in March this year
The actor's meeting with Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings and CCO Ted Sarandos in March this year hit headlines. Khan says it is their shared vision of telling stories on a grand scale that attracted him to tie up with the company. "Few people from Netflix came home for discussions, and I found them really warm. I realised we share a similar vision of telling a story in a beautiful way. So, it's not just the monetary factor, but also how the platform brings a lot of value to each story. They want to do things in a grand way, which is something that is also my plan."
