Settling in the slapstick mode As an actor while performing slapstick comedy, one needs to be comfortable with one's body.

Satirical comedy is more polished humour, says Sharman Joshi

Loud expressions, gestures and in your face dialogues add to this genre of comedy. On the other hand, satirical comedy is more polished humour. It needs some finesse which is challenging for an actor.

Solo stake
I have acted in multi-starrer films like Rang De Basanti, Style, Golmaal, Life In A Metro to name a few. The stake is higher in a solo hero project. An actor’s box office standing, his reputation and many other things are considered before he is roped in for the role. Thankfully, I don’t feel the pressure because I give my best for every role.

I am very happy as an actor and I don’t think it is fair to compare one actor with another, unless they are working in the same film. As a kid, I used to play sports and I am competitive by nature. But when it comes to comparing myself with other actors or vice-versa, I wouldn’t do it. Acting is very subjective. Each actor makes his own journey which is based on his conviction.

The regional run
Recently, I have heard a lot about Marathi cinema. The story, script and cinematography of Marathi films is getting novel by the day. I have done Gujarati theatre for about eight years before I got a break in Bollywood. I had enacted the role of a deaf character in the Gujarati version of the play All The Best.

The family man
When I am not working, I am spending time with my family. A few days ago, my daughter Khyana, my twins Varryan and Vihaan, and my two nieces were playing together. When I entered the room, all five of them stopped their game and rushed to hug me. It was the best feeling in the world.

My wife Prerana is an artist. She keeps herself busy with her exhibitions. Whenever we get some free time, we try and spend it together. u00a0
