Is encouraging her to come out with her own designer line
Sanjay Dutt's wife Maanayata might be launching her own designer collection soon.
A source close to the Dutt wife says, "Maanayata has been designing her own sarees and jewellery for a long time. She has always been very fussy about her clothing and that's why she has been designing them right from her school days. All the sarees and salwar kurtas she has worn to events like the Stardust awards, her mata ki chowki, Ajay Devgn's All The Best success party, Shilpa Shetty's reception and Amrita Arora's sangeet were all designed by her."
Keeping busy
The source adds that a proud Sanju proudly shows off his wife's designs to guests at their Bandra residence,u00a0 "He has been encouraging Maanayata to bring out her own saree and jewellery collection and has promised to support her wholeheartedly, and even walk the ramp with the models displaying her designs. Maanayata makes sketches of designs and then has them made from a Bandra jeweller. Hubby Dutt thinks she is good enough to have her own counter at the jewellery store."u00a0 Currently, Maanayata is doing the interiors of Dutt's Bandra office.
Big plans
After the office space is ready, she will think of opening her boutique. So far, she has concentrated on chiffon and georgette sarees for herself but she wants to cover all types of fabrics and textures and in an affordable range of sarees for her clientele. She wants to design not just eveningwear and weddings but brunch and office wear too. The source says that though Maanayata hasn't had any basic training in designing she has a knack for it, "She thinks of a basic occasion and the season and accordingly works out the colour like blue and brown for winter and pastel shades for summer. Though she likes some elegant work on it she's not much for bling."
Maanayata says, "Sanju is very excited and proud about my designs and wants me to launch my own saree
range but right now my only focus is having our baby and setting up our family. Let me enjoy my own creations for the moment," she laughs.
