A day after Varun Dhawan apologised for his 'nepotism rocks' comment at a recent awards gala in New York, Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar expressed regret over their barbs against Kangana Ranaut.
"It was just a joke," Saif said, adding, "but, now I feel, had we given it more thought, we could've really finished this ongoing public discourse on nepotism more decisively."
After the trio was criticised on Twitter for poking fun at Kangy with their remarks, Karan too admitted to a news portal yesterday that he "regrets" his statements, also adding that he was the one who came up with the joke.
"What we said was meant to be a joke, which I think has been misplaced and misunderstood. I think it went wrong. The idea of that joke was entirely mine, so I take onus of what we said."
