Shammi and Ranbir Kapoor will indulge in a jam session scene in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar. The Junglee veteran will play the shehnai and RK will play the guitar.
Says a source, "Ranbir plays a boy from a small town with dreams of becoming a huge rock star. There is a scene in the film where there's a jugalbandi face-off between the modern generation (RK) and the older one (Shammi)."
The young actor is obviously excited and has been rehearsing. "He even took guitar lessons for two months from a teacher so he could play it perfectly in the film.

The scene between him and Shammiji personifies the two generations one that advocates classical and the other rock. It's an important scene so members of the Kapoor family are expected to attend the shoot."
Shammi, who has to undergo dialysis thrice a week, will shoot for the film despite weak health. Imtiaz has made sure that the shooting with the elderly actor is planned in a way that suits his condition.
Says the grand old Kapoor, "In my younger days, I used to play the shehnai or would enact it to perfection. I think I can do it today, also.
He recounts, "As a child, Ranbir would sit on my lap and sing classical music to me. He wasn't trained in that but did it just to bug me."
