Yesterday, there was buzz that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani would be replacing Gajendra Chauhan as chairman of the governing council of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

He filmmaker, however, has put the rumours to rest. Hirani had been asked to head the academic council, but was unable to take up the offer due to his film commitments.
He will continue to help end the deadlock between the ministry and the agitating FTII students — albeit from outside the campus.
