Within weeks of its release, the Quickgun Murugun producers (Fox Star and Phat Phish) and the film's director (Shashank Ghosh) are already set to go in for a sequel.
This time around, the sequel will take the Tamil cowboy to America and it will be titled Shootout At Times Square.
Admits Murugun director Ghosh, "Yes we're on to a sequel. We want to take Murugun to the Wild West and do the full Western, with a Gunfight At Ok Corral kind of climatic shootout et al."
The cast and crew would be the same including Dr Rajendra Prasad in the title role.
Before work begins on the sequel, Ghosh is off for a two-week holiday. "I think I've earned one. It's been a long journey for Murugun and me."
Warsi loses it, again
Incidentally, Arshad Warsi was the first choice to play Quickgun Murugun. "But the producers wanted to go the whole hog. They wanted a true-blue South Indian who could spoof the already-spoofy South Indian character," informs director Shashanka Ghosh. Rajendra Prasad will reprise his role in the QGM sequel. "Murugun is now a brand name; I can't help it," sighs Ghosh.
