Producer Guneet Monga, who was yesterday added to the jury of the 21st Busan International film Festival, cannot conceal her excitement.
“I am excited because it is one of the top festivals in Asia. Some time ago, the organisers wrote a mail to me, asking about my availability. I decided to adjust my schedule accordingly and gave them 10 days,” she gushes.
The fest in Korea will be held from October 6 to 15. Guneet, who is known to throw her weight behind indie projects, says she is keen to watch pioneering films. “It is a great opportunity to sit and learn many things about cinema because I am going to be part of the panel that gets to watch films by first-time directors. I am excited to see the best films from around the world. There will be many interesting people on the panel so it is going to be fascinating,” she adds.
Guneet has been a jury member of Zurich Film Festival in the past.
Any film that she’s particularly looking forward to? Guneet says, “It will be too early to talk about the films which are getting screened. However, I can tell you that there are a couple of South Indian and Tamil films that I really want to see. During the festival, everyone in comes together to celebrate cinema there. It is a beautiful place and the food is great too.”
