Karwaan featuring Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar, which is slated to release in August, was supposed to be Gupta's debut film. "The story of Karwaan is close to my heart. Even though I faced several hiccups along the way, I held on to the script to ensure that it gets the best platform and mount. I am happy that we got Ronnie Screwvala as a partner as he comes with a vast experience in the entertainment business. It took me a while to put this film together, but I am glad that the film is now ready for a theatrical release."
A still from Karwaan
Ask her how it feels to be a woman producer in a male-dominated industry, and she says, "I wish there were more women producers in future. Things are changing slowly, and there are women in India who are hands-on with their finances, but we still have a long way to go." She adds, "Though I am still learning the business, the experience from the first film and my background of finance have surely come handy."
