"In 11 years I made six films myself and got support. I journeyed as a human being through my films and evolved," Onir told PTI.

"I learnt through my films. I don't want to do stories that I don't believe in," Onir, whose first film 'My Brother Nikhil' created waves and fostered long-term bonding with Sanjay Suri way back in 2005, said.

Referring to 'Chauranga', which literally means four colours (varnas) of life, Onir said the title reflects different castes that we have in society "though the caste-system does not legally exist in Indian Constitution."

"From the killings of a Dalit in the countryside to the provision of separate elevators for guests/senior officials and lower level employee in many offices in cities, discrimination in one form or other is very much in vogue in present day society. My production Chauranga makes people think and ponder if killing over caste is okay," he said.

The movie is written and directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra.

Onir and Sanjay Suri are co-producing Bikash's film as it is very relevant for this time and all times.

Sanjay said colours somehow are used as metaphor in this film.

On his bonding with Onir, he said, "We work together. We have gone along since My Brother Nikhil days. We like these kind of stories (certain social issues) we can connect."

Director Bikas said, while actual shooting of the film took place in Jharkhand, the fictional village can be anywhere in India.

The film also stars Tannishtha Chatterjee, Dhritiman Chatterjee and Riddhi Sen among others.
