After his film with Govinda's daughter Narmada Ahuja failed to take off, Akhil Kapur has now moved on
Vinod Khanna’s nephew Akhil Kapur finally makes his Bollywood debut in Anand Kumar’s upcoming film 'Desi Kattey'. The film went on the floors last week. Two years ago, Akhil had created a buzz when he was to be launched with Govinda’s daughter Narmada. They were to feature in Lovely Singh’s 'Tutak Tutak Tutiya'.

When Narmada’s long–in-the planning launch with Olympic medallist boxer Vijender Singh did not take off, the film was rechristened and had Akhil as her hero. There was also speculation at that time that Govinda and Salman Khan would do cameos in the movie.
However after the announcement, the film plan disappeared into oblivion. And Akhil decided to move on and trained in acting and filmmaking at the New York Film Institute.
Says Akhil, “There was talk two years ago but everything was in the initial stages. There was a meeting held but later matters did not progress.”
Akhil, who is Vinod Khanna’s sister Poonam’s son, has worked on the sets of films like 'Salaam-E-Ishq' and 'Race' and even assisted director Reema Kagti on 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd.' He has grown up watching his cousins Akshaye and Rahul Khanna at work and would even accompany them on their film’s sets.
For 'Desi Kattey', the youngster has grown his locks in which he essays a gun-toting character from the hinterlands. A South Mumbai resident, Akhil’s biggest worry is the daily commute, as all film shoots are in the distant suburbs.
“I have been taking the Worli Bandra sealink and then taking a ferry from the Versova jetty to reach the shoot at Madh Island,” he says. u00a0
