While we know that actor Mukul Dev shines in baddie roles, very few people are aware that he is a trained pilot as well. A nature-lover and a spiritually inclined person, Mukul has diverse interests in life. He talks to CS about the things he loves besides films:
Flying high
I am a trained commercial pilot. In fact, I was selected for a leading airline but decided to focus on my acting career instead. Once in every few months, I head off to Aligarh or Patiala to take a few spins in the sky. My flying holidays last for a week or so. I have to do this to renew my flying licence. I love the sense of adventure associated with flying. As an actor, you have takes and retakes but as a pilot you're all on your own in the huge skies.u00a0
Rapid thrills
One of my favourite adventure sports in river rafting. It is a great test of your stamina and reflexes. I love going to Rishikesh, where there are river rafting camps at Shivpuri and Kaudiyala. You get to enjoy the best of nature and adventure out there. I have also gone river rafting on the Brahmaputra but it's a tough exercise. You need professional skills to navigate the strong currents of that river.
Call of the wild
I love the outdoors. So, whenever someone tells me that we have to shoot at a jungle or near the mountains, I feel really excited. In between shots, I like to unwind with a bath at a waterfall or something of that sort (laughs out loud). I love going to Corbett National Park in Uttaranchal and soon hope to visit the Sunderbans. My daughter is also a wildlife enthusiast so it's fun holidaying at national parks with her.u00a0
Spiritual touch
I love going to Dharamshala as I find it to be very peaceful. It's like a peaceful oasis from the rat race of the outside world. My mom introduced me to Buddhism and it has brought a sense of harmony in my life. I have great respect for the Dalai Lama.
