Charged for allegedly creating ruckus at Nashik under the influence of alcohol a few days ago, actor Mohan Joshi yesterday resigned as the president of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad.

Joshi and fellow actor Chetan Dalvi, who were in Nashik for a film shoot, were beaten up by the locals for misbehaviour.

Joshi submitted his resignation to the executive committee, which met in the city yesterday evening. Joshi, known for his role as a villain in Bollywood films such as Gangajal, Vastav, etc, handed over the resignation letter to Parishad's vice president, Hemant Takle.

The disciplinary committee headed by Takle will probe allegations against Joshi.

Noted actor Smita Talwalkar, who is a member of the executive committee said, "Joshi wanted the committee to hear his side of the story. So, the disciplinary committee will probe the incident."
