Run through the recent chartbusters and you'll notice Bollywood's obsession with recreating popular old songs for new projects. After Tamma Tamma Again (Badrinath Ki Dulhania, 2017), The Humma Song (OK Jaanu, 2017) and Raabta (Raabta, 2017) among others, the makers of Farhan Akhtar's Lucknow Central are the latest to jump on the bandwagon.

The makers have recreated the popular shaadi song, 'Kawa Kawa' from 'Monsoon Wedding' (2001) for the Ranjit Tiwari directorial. While Sukhwinder Singh had crooned the original, the new track is composed by Arjuna Harjaie with lyrics by Kumaar and vocals by Divya Kumar.

While speaking to mid-day, producer Nikkhil Advani says, "We wanted an anthem song for the film. Farhan, Ajit Andhare [COO, Viacom 18] and I were debating whether we should go with an original number or pick up an existing chartbuster. We zeroed in on Kawa Kawa as it is popular even today. It is played at all sangeet and dance parties."

Kishen is later charged with murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Serving his sentence, he befriends a few jail inmates and also begins plotting a prison break. His plan takes shape when he gets an opportunity to form a band with fellow inmates essayed by actors Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma, Inaam ul Haq and Rajesh Sharma.

Actress Diana Penty's character lends a helping hand to Farhan Akhtar and his band.
