Actor-singer Olivia Newton John is all set to make her Bollywood debut in an untitled film based on politics and romance. We give you more dope on the four-time Grammy award winner.
At 14, Olivia formed a short-lived all-girl band, Sol Four, with three classmates. She soon became a regular on local Australian radio and television shows.
Olivia had hardly done any acting before she starred in Grease, and was terrified of the idea of playing a lead role in a film musical. The more-experienced John Travolta was really supportive though, and sometimes, when Olivia made a mistake during filming, he would make it look like it was his fault and take the blame for it.
Olivia then disappeared from the music scene for almost ten years. She made a comeback in 1992 with Back To Basics - The Essential Collection 1971-1992. Shortly after the album's release, Olivia was diagnosed with breast cancer, forcing her to cancel all publicity for the album.
Olivia's cancer diagnosis affected the type of music she recorded. In 1994, she released Gaia: One Woman's Journey, which chronicled her ordeal. This was the first album in which Olivia wrote all the songs, encouraging her to become more active as a songwriter.
Olivia has also authored a children's book, A Pig Tale.
