Jesse and Sandip: The right moves

Dance is the hidden language of the soul, they say and Sandip Soparrkar and Jesse Randhawa couldn't agree more. Having recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary on December 21, the couple is now heading to perform at the closing ceremony of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The duo talk to CS about dance binding them together:

Jab we met
In fact, it was dance that introduced them to each other. Blushes Sandip, "Jesse was asked to audition for Holiday (the forgettable Pooja Bhatt film). She wasn't selected because she was taller than Dino (Morea), but I thought she and I made a great match. It was love at first sight for me so I asked her if she would want to join me on concerts."

And Jesse couldn't have been happier with the offer, given the fact that till then she had only danced in Goa parties. She laughs, "For the first few months I was happily training under him, ignorant of what was soon to come."

Love in the rains
But like most love stories, even theirs had a 'twist'. Sandip was disheartened to find that Jesse wasn't too chatty with him. He states,"Initially, she would come, practice, say a bye and leave.

We never had any conversations over a cup of coffee or something of that sort, and so it was difficult for me to communicate my feelings to her. One day, I gathered the courage to ask her out for a coffee but the plan was a washout thanks to the 26/7 deluge."

But in spite of the downpour, Jesse did try to make the date happen. She says, "Though it was all flooded I did make an attempt to come till Versova. There was a point when I even walked barefoot. Till then even I didn't realise my feelings for Sandip."

Just for kicks
But wooing Jesse cost Sandip a fair share of hurt. Jesse laughingly recounts, "Once we were partying when I accidentally kicked him. He even started bleeding! Well, I wasn't always a dancer you see, and had little knowledge of distance and co-ordination. And the martial artist in me was all alive that day.

" Now it's Sandip's turn to crack up. He tells us, "Even I have given her a hard time. We were once performing Paso Doble, a Spanish dance form, when I had to bend and she had to jump over me. I didn't go down enough and she fell flat on her face.

Since then I have been more careful." He has indeed, only that he's bend a little lower to go down on his knees to win her forever.
