Rehmatein, a fund raising musical soiree featuring Hariharan, Talat Aziz and Anup Jalota, was hosted by Sangeetam Charitable Trust last week. The event was hosted to felicitate and provide monetary support to members of the musical fraternity.

Noted lyricist, Javed Akhtar graced the occasion as the chief guest. Veteran ghazal legend Rajendra Mehta and Padma Bhushan Khayyam were honoured for their contribution to the world of music. The duo was awarded a cheque of Rs 2.01 lakh each.

The musical soiree also proved to be a launch pad for Karttar Singh, younger brother of legendary ghazal singer, late Jagjit Singh. The event witnessed the presence of several popular singers including Sonu Nigam, Suresh Wadkar, Wajid Ali, Javed Ali, Richa Sharma, Jaspinder Narula, Madhushree and Shadab, among others.

The event was conceptualised and executed by E-Bizz Entertainment India Pvt Ltd, which is headed by Smita Parikh, who is an RJ, actor and writer. Her poetry book called ‘Main Panth Niharun’ was also unveiled by Javed Akhtar and all performing artistes on the occasion.
The Sangeetam Charitable Trust, headed by Saurabh Daftary and Hariharan, aims to raise funds to extend monetary support and sponsorship to aspiring singers for training under the musical maestros participating in the event.
