While the makers have been tightlipped about the project, we hear the actor is playing a vigilante in the film, which is said to be based on a 2012 event when a section of the under-construction overhead Metro rail bridge on Andheri-Kurla road collapsed.
The mishap, which claimed one life and left a dozen others injured, took place when a 50-metre section of the Metro rail bridge came crashing down near a five-star hotel.
"Nishikant has conducted extensive research on the incident since he wants to attempt a sensitive portrayal of it," says a source.

The trailer is likely to be launched next week.
When we contacted Nishikant, he said, "Madaari is inspired from several true life incidents."
