Karan Johar: Optimistic, pessimistic; composed, hysterical; strong, weak; autocratic, democratic; loud and silent... poetic contradictions make a mother the most unusual species ever... more power to the winner of the human race... THE MOTHER
Koena Mitra: God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers....... i luv u ma.
Sunaina Roshan wishes all moms a very happy Mother's Day. I love you mom... you are not only mother to me but my best friend too.
The Movies I Loved Growing Up
Deepak Dobriyal
The Delhi-6 actor lists his fave films...
GOLMAAL: I remember my brother and I watched Hrishikesh Mukherjee's filmu00a0 about 10 times. We related so much to Amol Palekar's character.
Typical heroes were far away their reactions were unlike ours, but Amol Palekar was one of us. We were so terrorised but at the same time tickled by Utpal Dutt's character.
There are a few lines from the film that we exchange in conversation even today, like, "itne unche vichar" or "khao beta khao, khaoge nahi toh police ki maar kaise sahoge?"
SHOLAY: Everyone says Sholay. I know that. But it's true. It's like the Taj Mahal. Even though I had heard so much about it, I was amazed when I saw Ramesh Sippy's film.
It's a movie you can watch any number of times. As kids, we used to quiz each other about Sholay.
"Gabbar ke baap ka kya naam tha?" or "What is the first sound you hear in Sholay?" And even today, itu00a0 does not seem like it is an old film. You cannot improve Sholay. Woh jaisi hai, sahi hai.
JAANE BHI DO YAARON: Kundan Shah's film is a standalone film. There is no other film in Hindi cinema of this genre. In my childhood, it was one of the most discussed films. I remember Naseer Saab, Pankaj ji and Om ji very clearly in this film.
It was from this film onwards that I started following films with them in the cast. I love the narrative of this film. I feel very lucky to have worked with Kundan ji. It's a really big deal for me.
MR INDIA: Who didn't know ki Mogambo ko khush rakhna tha? Jab woh khush hota to hum ko darr kam lagta tha.

But when he used to talk badly about India, hum sab ka support Mr India ko chala jaata. And Sridevi's moves in Shekhar Kapur's film... sharma-sharma ke dekhte the hum sab.
MASOOM: I liked Shekhar Kapur's film but my mother just loved it. I remember her crying through most of the film. When I saw it again recently, I liked it even more. The innocence of the kids is captured so well.
KASAM PAEDA KARNE WALE KIu00a0 When we used to play sports as kids, a song from B Subhash's film used to be the cheer that actually got us from losing to winning sometimes!

(Rulaaya hai, rulaayenge /sataya hai, satayenge/ Haraya hai, haraayenge, kasam paida karne waale ki!!)
NATWARLAL/NAMAK HALAL/SILSILA: And a host of Amitabh Bachchan starrers. My mother was a HUGE Amitabh fan. She used to call him Amitabh Dada!
She would take my brother and me to secretly watch his films while our father was at work. She was a major movie buff while my father tried to instil sports and reading into us.
She would bribe us with ice-cream so we would not tell him. And we have still not told him our little secret.
