Among the slate of initiatives launched by I&B Minister Smriti Irani and chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis at the ongoing Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), is the newly launched Content Market, aimed at facilitating the business of content for Indian films.
Inaugurated yesterday at the 19th edition of the FICCI Frames, the initiative, with over 70 buyers — including 102 Distribution, Edko Films, Shoreline Entertainment, Spuul, Top Entertainment, Aurora Global Media Capital, Front Row Entertainment, Alpha Violet Sarl, and Indian companies like Zee Enterprises, Star, Eros Now and Reliance Entertainment — hopes to make Indian content available to big production houses for purchase for airing on their channels.
Talking about the first-of-its-kind initiative, Sanjaya Baru, secretary general, FICCI, tells mid-day, "In our 19th edition of FICCI Frames, our agenda is to foster greater business for the entertainment industry. Our discussions, and the newly launched Content Market, are efforts towards that. We are looking forward to greater participation from the industry."
