"Actresses these days hardly even know how to act, forget do comedy," sighs Archana Puransingh. The actor and TV anchor, who will now be seen judging contestants on reality show Comedy Circus 3, takes her comedy very very seriously. She believes that there have been very few female Bollywood actors who have shown a flair for comedy. Here's her list:
Sridevi
I loved her in Chaal Baaz. She is also absolutely arresting in her role, tinged with comedy, in Roop Ki Rani Choro Ka Raja. I have to say that she is the only heroine in the industry who has an amazing comic sense and timing.
Juhi Chawla
I love watching the expressions on Juhi's face. She is very spontaneous and though she hasn't really played a comic role so far, she is fantastic in Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke. I especially love the scene where she's fighting with her father in Tamil.
Tanuja
From the yesteryear female actors, Tanuja has done a fair bit of comedy in her roles. She is known for experimenting with her looks. Her comedy timing in Do Dooni Char is laudable.
Kareena Kapoor
Though Kareena hasn't done an out-and-out comedy, I think she is capable of doing a good job in this genre. Her flash of comic sense in Hulchul, Jab We Met makes me think that she has great flair for comedy.
Rakhi Sawant
Though she's not in the same league as the others, she inadvertently is comic without even trying to be so. Her drama, where she is trying to gain sympathy with a few tears and plaintive dialogues, has exactly the opposite effect!
