>> Jab We Met
After a long time, we saw an Indian director put the onus of an onscreen relationship on the actress. We all fell with Kareena Kapoor Khan’s portrayal of 'Geet' and after a really, really long time the good boy wins the girl in the end. Shahid Kapoor plays Aditya Kashyap, a rich yet kind-hearted boy, but his role was supplementary to Kareena's.
>> Highway
This film was one of the best Alia Bhatt’s performances, whilst we also got to see the lovely backdrop of the mountains and picturesque North India. Imtiaz Ali, dared to show a girl being sexually abused by a family member, thereby breaking the stereotype of 'Indian sanskari' families. Randeep Hooda’s character of ‘Mahabir Bhati’ again was supplementary to Alia Bhatt's Veera.
>> Rockstar
This film can be considered as one of Ranbir Kapoor’s finest performances till date. Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri were shown in a complicated relationship, which most of us can relate to. Though a bit dark, this film also taught us about fighting for our dreams and fighting societal norms.
>> Tamasha
This movie can officially be termed as Imtiaz Ali's finest work till date. We got to see Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone try to discover themselves while struggling to make a relationship work. Another scenario that most of the millenials face these days and the one we can relate to. Plus the scenes which were shot in Corsica, France gave us some travel goals.
>> Love Aaj Kal
This movie perhaps personifies complicated relationships in the best way possible. Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. Imtiaz Ali has beautifully captured the changing dynamics of relationships and showed how 'falling in love' has changed over the years.
