I truly love and respect him as a person. His contribution is great (towards my film career), his belief in me as an actor is something I could have never thought of," Pulkit, 30, told PTI in an interview here. "His support means a lot to me. I do feel nervous at times about disappointing him. I try not to let his expectations down," he added.
Pulkit, who played a cop in Salman-starrer 'Jai Ho', did manage to get noticed alongside the 'Dabangg' star in the action film, which released in January. "It was a great learning experience. I started my journey in this industry through TV. I never assisted anyone. So I never had the opportunity to understand and read how a star works. I am glad that with 'Jai Ho' I got the opportunity to witness this," he said.
The 'Fukrey' star said he is currently going through many interesting scripts. "It is an exciting period I am reading several scripts," he said. The actor, who made his debut in Bollywood with 'Bittoo Boss', appeared next in 'Fukrey' and 'Jai Ho'.
His upcoming film 'O Teri' is produced by Salman's brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri. When asked if he landed 'O Teri' because of his relation with Salman, Pulkit said, "I am thankful to bhai (as Salman is fondly called) and Atul to support this film.
To do a film that is supported by them is a dream come true. It was bhai who first took the narration and then Atul and Alvira". "He was concerned what kind of work was coming my way after 'Bittoo Boss' and 'Fukrey'. When I told him about this film ('O Teri') he wanted to hear the script, he liked it and eventually things fell in place," he added.
Salman, who did a cameo in 'O Teri', was well aware about the plot of the film and was very much involved with the project. In 'O Teri', Pulkit will be playing the role of a journalist.
He went to Delhi to understand the functioning of media offices as a part of the research for his role. Directed by Umesh Bist, the film has been produced by Salman's sister Alvira and her husband Atul Agnihotri. The film which also stars newcomer Bilal Amrohi, besides Anupam Kher and Sarah Jane Dias, is slated to release on March 28.
