Hema Sardesai extended her support on Instagram with a post
Hema Sardesai and Anu Malik
Hema Sardesai has come out in support of Anu Malik who has been called out by several singers in the wake of the #MeToo movement. The Awaara Bhanware singer wrote on Instagram, "If one of the decent singers like me could have sung some of Anu Malik's greatest songs, it proves there is a great artiste in him who respected talent and gave me songs on merit (sic)." She added, "I ask the singers… why were you quiet for years? Are you'll saying the other music directors who you'll worked with were gods (sic)?" We are waiting for Sona Mohapatra's reaction.

For the unversed, a few days earlier, Nai Jaana fame singer Neha Bhasin has accused music composer Anu Malik of predatory behaviour. Neha took to social media on Wednesday and posted a series of tweets, calling out Anu for making her uncomfortable several times.
I agee with you. We do live in a very sexist world. Anu Malik is a predetor, i too have run away from his strange moves when i was 21. I didn't let myself get into a sticky situation beyond him lying on a sofa in front of me talking about my eyes in a studio. I fleed lying https://t.co/tQgStLrYyT

Sona has also led a protest against Anu Malik's presence on "Indian Idol" almost ever since the lineup of judges for the current season was announced. Last year, Sona along with singers Shweta Pandit and Neha Bhasin had levelled allegations of sexual harassment against the composer. Soon, a couple of other women had come forward to accuse Malik of improper conduct, following which Sony TV had announced the composer was stepping down as judge from 2018's season 10.
