Despite Akshay Kumar starrer Gold surpassing the box office collection of John Abraham's Satymeva Jayate, both the films are going toe-to-toe. While the big-budget Akshay Kumar starrer has raked in Rs 71.30 Crore on the opening weekend, John Abraham's action flick is going strong with an earning of Rs 56.91 crore.

Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the news. He appreciated Gold for having an 'EXCELLENT' opening weekend. The collections of the movie dipped on day 2, but showed an upward trend on day 3. He tweeted, "#Gold has an EXCELLENT *extended* opening weekend... Took a dip on Day 2, but gradually picked up from Day 3 to Day 5... All eyes on Mon-Thu biz...
