Sixteen years after Dharmesh Darshan’s musical hit Dhadkan graced the silver screen, its sequel is set to roll soon with a fresh script and cast. While the previous film starred Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Suniel Shetty, part two is likely to feature Fawad Khan and Sooraj Pancholi.

The hunt for the female lead is still on.

Says a source, “It will be a contemporary story and hence, requires younger actors. The casting process is underway, but Fawad and Sooraj have almost been finalised. The makers are now looking for a suitable lead actress and other character actors.”

The film will be produced by Ratan Jain. Buzz is that Prem Soni, who helmed Main Aur Mrs Khanna (2009) starring Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sohail Khan, will take on the directorial reins for the sequel.

The spokespersons for Fawad and Sooraj remained unavailable for comment. Producer Jain says, “The casting is not yet done.”

However, our source maintains that the two young actors have been penciled in for Dhadkan 2, adding, “As soon as the actress is locked in to complete the love triangle, an official announcement shall be made.”
