Shudra - The Rising, by Sanjiv Jaiswal will be an anticipated venture to not just create social awareness about an extremely complex global social issue of casteism and untouchability but also to bring about a feeling of responsibility and integrity among the citizens towards uplifting the society as a whole.

The film takes ahead the works of the likes of Achhut Kanya, Bandini, Neecha Nagar, Bandit Queen and others. Writer-director Sanjiv Jaiswal says, “I am inspired by Manoj Kumar and like most of his works, my film covers all aspects of a society divided by colour, caste and creed, rampant with corruption and atrocity.

The film is based on factual practices against untouchables prevalent in India. The tri-lingual film, which will release worldwide, is anticipated to draw applause from critics, media and viewers.

“We are humbled with thousands of people joining hands with us from across the globe,” says Prashant Sharma, handling the film’s business and promotions.

He adds, “Has anyone heard of a film being officially unveiled from a pilgrimage destination? Shudra – The Rising was unveiled at Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur on Buddha Purnima on May 7, 2012.”u00a0
