Deepika Padukone made her maiden international red carpet appearance at the Europe Music Awards 2016 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, early Monday morning. It was a big moment for Dippy as she is gearing up for her Hollywood debut in XXX: Return Of Xander Cage. She presented the Best Video award along with XXX: Return Of Xander Cage co-star Nina Dobrev to Canadian singer The Weeknd.
In a media statement, the actress said, “I was pleasantly surprised when I got the invite. It is very gracious of them to invite me. I have grown up watching the MTV awards and I didn’t think that one day, I would be walking down the red carpet and presenting an award at this global music event. It’s a step forward in my global career.”

For the ceremony, Deepika opted for a swamp green skirt and bralet ensemble by Mumbai designer Monisha Jaising. She accentuated the look with a gigantic belt and black stilettos. What caught the eye were the oversized green danglers on her ears. But the star’s sartorial choice did not go down too well with the British fashion police. Daily Mail labelled it a ‘Bollywood blunder!’ They wrote, “Bollywood blunder: Indian actress Deepika Padukone may be stunning but her swamp green bralet and skirt combo did nothing for her sensational figure.” We wouldn’t go as far as that, but we think she could’ve picked a number that flaunted her glam figure.
Give me attention: Reality starlet Chloe Ferry showed off her derriere through a black floor-length gown, and set it off with a new silver mane; We like: Jourdan Dunn’s LBDâÂu00c2u0080Âu00c2u0088showed off her pins; Don’t like: Elettra Lamborghini's sheer bodysuit decorated with black squares
Describing the idea behind the outfit that ttracted bad press, Jaising says, “Military green is a functional and strong colour. It has a tough, almost androgynous appeal for all women warriors out there. Deepika is unstoppable, fit and fierce, a perfect muse for my Artemisia gown.”
Several performers led the way at the awards hosted by Bebe Rexha, including Afrojack, Shawn Mendes and Green Day. The trophies were aubergine toned in memory of Purple Rain star Prince, who passed away this April.
