The method artist, Ranveer Singh deserves to be poured with accolades for his out-of-the-box performance as antagonist, Alauddin Khilji in the 'much-debatable' film, 'Padmaavat'. The actor has taken to his social media account to declare that he has already won his award for the film. Well, it is scion Amitabh Bachchan's hand-written heartfelt note sent to Singh that made the latter feel being bestowed with a prestigious award. The 'Band Baaja Baaraat' wrote on Instagram, "Mujhe mera award mil gaya... @amitabhbachchan (sic)."
In a statement, Ranveer poured his heart out and felt thankful for all the wishes while basking in the success of glory. "As an artiste, I feel fulfilled. Honestly, it's a relief to be validated in this way. It's overwhelming and humbling to witness the kind of reaction that the film and my performance has received," said the 32-year-old actor.
While the release of 'Padmaavat' was marked by protests in several states, the audience has given its verdict, by way of the opening weekend collections.
The magnum opus minted Rs 114 crore over the first weekend. The curiosity around the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer ensured the paid previews held on Wednesday earned a solid Rs 5 crore. Upon its release on Thursday, the film collected Rs 19 crore, marking Kapoor and Singh's career best opening. The collections showed a steady rise over the weekend with Rs 32 crore on Friday, Rs 27 crore on Saturday and Rs 31 crore on Sunday.
