“Such kind of films can really work,” he says. Bhagat says, “Arjun Kapoor (who has been cast in the film) is very fresh, similar to how Shah Rukh Khan was when Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge came.” As the story has been inspired by Chetan’s life, he’s glad that Arjun’s playing the part.

“He’s quite handsome, so I’m happy.” The writer has also been approached to do cameos in films. “I was offered to play the role of the author who gets kidnapped in Shor In The City. I thought somebody’s playing a prank,” he says.

Later, when he saw the film, he realised that the role was actually a take-off on him. “Even in the film Rascals, the two lead actors are called Chetan and Bhagat. All this is flattering sometimes,” he laughs. But if he’s offered a cameo in one of his own book adaptations, is he open to doing it? “Nah, I think that will too gimmicky.” u00a0
