The 17th edition of FICCI Frames was inaugurated yesterday at a Powai five star. This year, the theme is 'Change or perish — The year of digital'. Speaking at the event, Ravi Shankar, Union Minister holding the Communications and Information Technology portfolio, emphasised on the importance of promoting media and entertainment industry. Hence, visa processes for film shoots are made easier, he said. Talking about waking up to the digital age, the minister spoke about certain government initiatives like Smart City, Digital India etc that recognise the growth.

Also present at the event were Mukesh Ambani, chairman, Reliance Industries, Uday Shankar, chairman of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and CEO Star India, Francis Gurri, DG, World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and actress Aditi Rao Hydari.

On the occasion, FICCI-KPMG report for the year 2016, The Future: Now Streaming was released. Ramesh Sippy, co-chairman, FICCI media, presented the vote of thanks.

The three-day event, which concludes tomorrow, has some interesting sessions lined up. Day one saw sessions like surviving the digital divide, masterclass by filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, Kids Go Gigital, etc.
