Produced by Shah Rukh Khan's production house, it raked in Rs 104.10 crore in Hindi, Rs 2.92 crore in Telugu dubbed version and Rs 1.84 crore in its Tamil dubbed version. HNY has become the highest opening weekend ranker in Indian films so far, read a statement.
"We are thrilled that after 'Chennai Express' had set a new record in 2013, 'Happy New Year' has set another new benchmark. We are grateful for the ongoing love and support of audience,” said Venky Mysore, CEO of SRK's production house.
The heist drama also stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.
Gaurav Verma, chief revenue officer of the production house said: "We are thankful to all our partners, exhibitors and especially YRF (Yash Raj Films) for helping us achieve this significant milestone."
