Akshay Kumar-starrer, Entertainment, has grossed around Rs 34 crore in the opening weekend of its release. Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani says, “The first weekend collection of Akshay’s last release, Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty, was around Rs 40 crore.

His latest film, Entertainment, has not crossed this figure so far. But yes, despite mixed reviews, the film has managed to do decent business at the box office. It had a slow start, but the film saw a big jump on Sunday. One will have to wait and see how it will perform before Ajay Devgn’s Singham Returns releases on Friday.’’

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says that Monday to Thursday is a crucial period for the film. “Entertainment has shown promise, but it has to continue to do well during the week, or else it won’t get prime screen allotments in the coming week.’’

Vishal Anand of Fun Cinemas says that Entertainment was the pick of the weekend for moviegoers. He adds, “Of course, Kick is still doing very well at the box office.”

It may be pointed out that Kick, which has gone on to become the biggest grosser this year, has collected around Rs 224 crore so far. Taran Adarsh says, “Despite a lower screen count now, Kick has done really well. It has raked in Rs 223.94 crore and I guess it will cross Chennai Express’s collections — it had collected Rs 227.13 crore — by this week.’’
