That sex sells is a known fact and this was only reiterated by the first weekend collections of Jay Bhanusali and Surveen Chawla-starrer, Hate Story 2.

The film has done a business of Rs16 crore in the opening weekend of its release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, “The film may have featured TV stars in it, but the sex factor combined with good music and aggressive marketing drew the audiences to the cinema halls. Franchises do have an advantage over other films and it looks like Hate Story 2 is leveraging this."
Two other films that released last weekend were Vir Das-starrer Amit Sahni ki List and Pizza 3D, but they didn’t get the audiences excited. Vishal Anand of Fun Cinemas says, “Both Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (HSKD) and Hate Story 2 have done well. While HSKD got a good response in multiplexes across major cities, the over-all collection of Hate Story 2 was better when compared to HSKD. Amit Sahni Ki List and Pizza 3D were inconsequential in terms of their collections at the box office.”
Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani adds, “The collection of HSKD stands at about R64 crore over the last 10 days and one has to see how Hate Story 2 will fare in the coming days.
The remaining films didn’t stand any chance at the box office. Pizza 3D collected about Rs 3 crore and Amit Sahni Ki List collected around Rs 2.5 crore. All in all, it’s been a good week.’’
