I missed every important family function -- birthdays and anniversaries -- in 2017. I wasn't around since I was busy shooting. When I wasn’t filming, I was either practicing for a performance, or flying off to various cities for appearances or commercials. I will certainly make time for my family in 2018. I felt homesick and guilty. My family is my lifeline, and they make me happy.

I regret focusing on my shows way too much and not giving enough importance to my independent covers and mash ups, even though I released a lot of them. Some of the songs were promising, and I kept pushing their release in a bid to keep improving them. I guess, I’m guilty of procrastination. But, now I can’t wait to share them with everyone.

2017 made me realise that no dream is small, and life is short. Each moment must be cherished. One must love him/herself and their loved ones. Every day, I focus on being a better human being.

I lost my dear friend, Sharanya Roy, in a road accident in Goa this year. It happened suddenly, and taught me that nothing else matters, but the present. I learnt that life is indeed too short. So, we should love and be loved.

Sitting on the directors' roundtable of a reputed year-ender show after releasing my debut film this year is something I will cherish. That panel also included SS Rajamouli, the creator of the epic Baahubali. I learnt a lot from this achiever, who grew with each film through sheer hard work, creativity and talent. His humility and childlike enthusiasm is heartening. A person who has reached the Mount Everest, and yet continues to hunt for taller mountains to climb is inspiring. There’s a lot to learn from him.

The highlight of this year was watching my son perform at his school’s annual day. Nita Ambani told me he stole the show. I didn't believe it until I saw it, and all I did was weep. With his act, my son reiterated to me that more than the skill, it is the soul that enhances the craft.

Over the years, I have neglected my health. There was always time for work, family, and friends, but not for myself. Now, I want to give sufficient time to myself, practice yoga each day, and stay healthy.

I want to devote time to my fitness. I was never fat, but I did begin to feel sluggish this year. After kicking off an exercise programme recently, I love it. In 2018, I look forward to staying mentally and physically fit. I also would like to be more positive.

I've promised myself to refrain from impulsively spending online. I tend to get hooked onto online shopping sites and ended up making fairly expensive purchases. It turned out to be a scam.
