Popular for his many international projects, Panjabi MC is finally rapping a track for a Hindi film
It seems that these days everyone wants a slice of Bollywood. Even Panjabi MC — the guy who sung Mundian to bach ke rahi back in 1998, eventually used in several films including Boom and Bend It Like Beckham — is now making his foray into the Hindi film industry. He’s crooning a Punjabi song for Mere Dad Ki Maruti.u00a0

This particular number is going to be the first song of the film and it will play out during the opening credits itself. Although it’s the introduction to the two leads of the film, Saqib Saleem and Rhea Chakraborty, the number portrays the essence of Chandigarh as the video has been shot at Punjab University.
The UK-based music producer says, “The song is partly sung by Manak-E and I’m rapping in it. It’s something I haven’t done before exclusively for a feature film. The plan was to maintain the Bhangra spirit throughout by basically singing about gaddi and kudi!”u00a0
