Bollywood playback singer Nigam, while wishing the two leaders, hailed Gandhi as his favourite role model.
"My favourite role model since my childhood... Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.. The Great Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti. Pranaams," he wrote on his Twitter page. 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' star Farhan Akhtar remembered Gandhi's sayings on the occasion.

Actor Anil Kapoor, who turned producer with critically-acclaimed film 'Gandhi, My Father' (2007), wrote, "The best way to find yourself is to loose yourself in the service of others - Mahatma Gandhi.
