As a mark of respect to producer and trade analyst Vikas Mohan, who passed away yesterday, the Hindi film industry cancelled most of its events with some members attending his last rites. Mohan, who had earlier undergone treatment for cancer, succumbed to a lung ailment. He was 64. His last rites were performed yesterday afternoon. He had produced the Madhuri Dixit and Akshay Kumar-starrer Aarzoo (1991).

The Housefull 3 team was to travel to Indore yesterday for the film’s promotions. However, as soon as Akshay Kumar heard the news, he along with Abhishek Bachchan and Jacqueline Fernandez decided against boarding the flight. The stars wanted to go and pay their last respects to Mohan. Amitabh Bachchan also cancelled his event for his upcoming film, Te3n. He tweeted: “Had a press meet this morning for TE3N PR; feel it inappropriate, unethical to hold meet in view of Vikas Mohan passing.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar called him a “a truly respected and loved member of our fraternity.” Anupam Kher wrote: “Deeply saddened to know about the demise of Vikas Mohan ji. Apart from a veteran film trade analyst, he was wonderful and helpful human being (sic).”
