Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar's National Award win for 'Rustom' has stirred controversy with many accusing the jury headed by Priyadarshan of being biased. After filmmaker AR Murugadoss, now actor Arvind Swami has taken a sly dig at the jury.
Arvind Swami, best remembered for films like 'Roja' and 'Bombay', took to Twitter to voice his opinion on Akshay Kumar winning the National Award.
Arvind Swami tweeted, "Nanavati case was one of the last of the jury trials in India. There seems to be other good reasons to do away with the jury. Sorry, seemed."

Akshay Kumar
Earlier, filmmaker AR Murugadoss took a dig at Priyadarshan and said this year's National Awards were biased and few members of the jury were partial.
"#NationalAwards. Can clearly witness the influence & partiality of people in jury, it's biased," AR Murugadoss posted on Twitter.

Akshay Kumar in 'Rustom'
The question of partiality and bias became a topic of debate after Akshay Kumar won the Best Actor award for 'Rustom', snubbing potential winners such as Aamir Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Dulquer Salmaan, among others.
A section of the public on social media came down heavily on Akshay's win. Priyadarshan was the head of the jury of National Film Awards.
Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have worked together in multiple projects.
Priyadarshan, however, has defended himself by saying that Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn had also won National Awards when their respective frequent collaborators Ramesh Sippy and Prakash Jha were heads of the jury, but they weren't questioned at that time.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, too, expressed his displeasure over his critically-acclaimed film 'Aligarh' not being considered worthy of an honour at the 64th National Film Awards.
Am getting calls asking me if Aligarh was entered for the National Awards and if i was disappointed with the.. pic.twitter.com/93cw80iv7b

My only hope is that the debate over Section 377 and LGBTQ rights is not ignored. If Aligarh has shone a light on.. pic.twitter.com/pusrCThOkl
