After a successful debut earlier this year, MTV Super Fight League (SFL) is gearing up for its second edition in March 2018. The league that focuses on mixed martial arts has caught the attention of many Bollywood stars, with the likes of Ajay Devgn, Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda and Tiger Shroff having bought stakes in the participating teams. The latest to join the bandwagon is Arbaaz Khan, having become the new co-owner of Gujarat Warriors.

Speaking to mid-day, Khan says his interest in mixed martial arts, from his growing up years, spurred the decision. "I have been following mixed martial arts since high school. I was privy to the first season of SFL and was quite impressed with how the league was conducted." The actor-producer says that it is refreshing to see other sports have their moment in the sun, in a country that has been obsessed with cricket for decades.

"India is seeing a progressive change, with the focus shifting to alternate sports. I see an opportunity in promoting SFL to popularise mixed martial arts in India. I felt like joining this endeavour to provide the right ecosystem for the action sport to enter the mainstream of the country," says Khan. Interestingly, his brother, Sohail, is the co-owner of a team in the Super Boxing League.
