Anushka Sharma's Phillauri may not have had a smashing opening, but it has been reasonably successful in overcoming mixed reviews. After an unexciting Friday (R4.02 crore), it picked up over the weekend with the total box-office collection standing at Rs 15.25 crore only to drop on Monday (Rs 2.02 crore).
Distributor-exhibitor Akshaye Rathi says, "I feel Rs 15 crore (in the opening weekend) is fairly good. Word of mouth helped the collections grow. It has performed better in North India due to Diljit Dosanjh's star power. Since it was a holiday yesterday in Maharashtra on account of Gudi Padwa, the film would have seen higher footfalls. The makers will easily earn profits."
Trade pundit Amod Mehra differs from Rathi as he says, "The exam season has also hampered the collections. There is a marginal increase in the collections every day (Friday R4.02 crore, Saturday R5.20 crore and Sunday R6.03 crore), but that's not enough. With a spate of Hindi and English releases this week, it will be difficult for Phillauri to have a long run."
