After a dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), Anushka Sharma went on to star in four more Yash Raj Films' projects, her last outing being Sultan (2016). However, despite being part of YRF's talent pool, the actress launched her own production house in 2014, along with brother Karnesh. As she gears up for the release of Phillauri, the second venture under her home banner, Anushka says there is no conflict of interest with YRF.

"Yash Raj has a talent management wing, which is independent of their production house. They manage my work, but that doesn't make me an in-house talent. I have been associated with Adi (Aditya Chopra, YRF boss] for many years, but when I decided to turn producer, I didn't pick up the phone and ask him for permission. It was only when I met him [that I told him about starting my own production house). He said it was a superb idea," she says. The actress adds she has never been under any obligation to give her nod to a YRF project because she was their 'discovery'.

"Adi offers me a lot of films and I agree to do one only if I like it." Her association with YRF, she says, has instilled professionalism in her. "It is obvious that we have brought in good things from them into our company."
