>> Born on July 21, 1930 in Rawalpindi, Anand Bakshi migrated with his family to Lucknow after the partition. He was a film buff since childhood.

>> Anand Bakshi served for two years in the Royal Indian Navy. In April 1946, he took part in the Naval Mutiny and was dismissed from service.  

>> He later joined the Indian Army with The Corps of Signals. Sainik Samachar, an Army publication, published his first poem.  

>> He got his break in Bollywood in 1956 with a Bhagwan Dada film, Bhala Aadmi.  

>> His golden period started from 1965 onwards with hits like Jab Jab Phool Khile and Milan. Anand worked with composers Laxmikant Pyarelal on 300 films. 

>> Some hit films include Bobby, Amar Prem, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Taal, Kalicharan, Mr India, Hum, etc

>> Anand Bakshi initially wanted to sing. He sung a qawwali for the film Sholay, called Chand Sa Koi Chehra but the song was never shot. His dream was fulfilled in the film Charas.
