Sudden decision
I have a lot of friends in Manali and after the shooting of my film Guddu Rangeela wrapped up, I went to catch up with them. I was at a friend’s place one night. He told me to ride his Bullet 550cc back to the hotel. That night I could not sleep — the mountains were calling. Early next morning, I took all my stuff and went to his place. I loaded the bike with the gears, etc and left for Ladakh. I had not even recovered fully from the ankle injury I had sustained during the shoot of Guddu Rangeela. But that did not deter me. I have spent my childhood days in the region as my dad was posted there, so it is familiar territory.

Stop and stare
I took three days to reach Leh, though in my earlier trips I have done it in less time. This time I was in no hurry as I stopped at various places and soaked in the beauty. You place your camera anywhere and you get breathtaking shots.

Breathless
By the time I reached the mountain pass Taglangla, which is at an elevation 17, 582 feet, I was breathless. It is the second highest pass in the world.
The vivid colours of nature on reaching Leh
I also saw a group of middle-aged women who were cycling to Leh and got inspired. Next time I will cycle to Leh.
