Akshay Kumar and wife Twinkle will lunch with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife Laureen today. The Premier, who is on a visit to India, was keen on meeting the actor who is the sole Indian torchbearer for the Winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver in February.

Spending time
The PM's office had called up the Khiladi, weeks in advance seeking a luncheon meeting. Though the head of state is addressing a media meet in the city, he specially requested to spend time with Akki over lunch.
Harper will be handing over the Olympic torch to AK at a special ceremony today.

Says Akshay, "This is a huge honour and I cannot describe how humbled I feel to be asked to run with the Olympic torch."

Lone bearer
As reported ('Akela Akki at Olympics'; Hitlist, Nov 12), the actor is not only the sole torchbearer from India at the Winter Olympics but is also the only star representating the global entertainment industry. Fifteen international celebrities have been invited to carry the Olympic torch and Akki is one of them.

During his Singh Is Kinng promotions last year in Canada, Akki had declared his love for the country saying that Canada was his second home, where he would love to lead a retired life.
Akshay is also the brand ambassador of the Special Olympics in India.
