If sources are to be believed, singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is facing flak for having misbehaved with some members of an NGO. Says a source, “The singer, along with some other members from his housing society, misbehaved with a few people from an NGO.”

Zara Ruhani, who works for the NGO, says, “An old lady living in Abhijeet’s building has been caring for some street dogs for a while now. The residents consider this to be a nuisance and she was threatened by a society member, after which she came to me. We then went to talk to these society members at around 7pm on Monday. But when we reached, Abhijeet, accompanied by around 30 people, charged towards us and started using foul language.”

The police is said to have then stepped in; they have recorded statements of both the parties. Abhijeet has a different story to tell. “The society members are facing a lot of problems because of stray dogs, so much so that kids are afraid to go out and play in the open. Recently, these stray dogs bit some people as well,” says the singer.

Abhijeet adds that the NGO workers tried to enter the society forcefully. “They also fought with others from the society. They asked us to cough up Rs 20,000 in return for taking away each stray dog from the society. The NGO is only trying to make money and gain attention by making stray dogs their agenda,” he says.
