Movie-making almost always follows a series of set steps — scripting, casting and music. But in case of '90s hit Aashiqui, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt wrote a story when he heard compositions by Kumar Sanu, and Nadeem-Shravan. In an episode of My Life, My Story, the singer revealed Aashiqui's music was ready before the film was conceptualised.
When he invited Bhatt for the album preview, the director said the songs belonged in a film. "When asked who'll make the film, Bhatt saab said he will weave a story around it. He took the rights to all songs, wrote a story and cast fresh faces (Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal). He made one of the most romantic classics of all time," said Kumar.
