According to police sources more than 300 policemen have been deployed to solve the murder and more than 175 suspects including oil mafia Mohammad Ali and Sadaruddin Shaikh have been interrogated. Sources revealed that police also picked up 12 sharp shooters who were recently released on bail.
Despite Home Minister Raosaheb Ramrao Patil's claim on the day of the shootout that investigations would bring a breakthrough within 48 hours, police officials have no new leads. At the same time, Commissioner of police Arup Patnaik too had told reporters "Samajh jao ki main itne itminan se kyon baitha hoon" (Why do you think I am so relieved).
When reporters asked about further developments top police officials simply replied saying, "Aapko kya lagta hai?" (what do you think?)
On June 11 Dey was killed in broad day light at Powai by four unknown shooters.
